Dear Friends of Aschiana, We are pleased to invite you to “A Thousand Splendid Suns,” at Arena Stage on February 26th at 7:30pm. This new play adapted from the New York Times bestselling novel by Khaled Hosseini (Kite Runner) centers around the lives of two Afghan women who are inextricably bound together. In the war-ravaged Kabul, Miriam and Laila become unlikely allies in the face of the insurmountable odds of a brutal and oppressive way of life. Hopes of a new life lead to an unselfish and shocking decision changing the course of their futures forever. Called “emotionally stirring” (Los Angeles Times), this gripping and heart-rending fight for survival will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. This play, which highlights the lives of Afghan women couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. Aside from the literacy, recreational, winter drive, and daily meal programs for children working on the streets, we have also supported programs that have empowered mothers or sisters by providing them with income generating programs such as tailoring and embroidery. We believe that if mothers or sisters can earn an income, then children – some as young as 6 years of age, don’t have to work on the streets. For each ticket sold through our special promotional code AFSUNS, Arena Stage will donate $10 to Aschiana Foundation. To attend, please contact the Arena Stage Group Sales at: 202-488-4380. You may also purchase your tickets online using the promo code at tickets.arenastage.org. We hope to see you at the Arena Stage on February 26th at 7:30PM and make a difference in the lives of Afghan children and their families. For your convenience, a flyer is attached and please don’t forget to use the special promotional code AFSUNS. With warmest regards, – Aschiana Foundation US DOWNLOAD EVENT FLYER AS PDF |
