Aschiana provides vocational training such as tailoring and embroidery programs for mothers of children attending Aschiana’s programs. If families can increase their income, the children can attend school full time and don’t have to work on the streets.

Please support hardworking and dedicated Afghan mothers such as Arifa and Fatima transform their children’s lives and communities!

Arifa

Help a Mother change lives - Arifa
Arifa, age 35, mother of nine.

Arifa is a 35 year old mother of nine children. She and her family were driven out of their home and village by violence. Now, she attends Aschiana’s tailoring program and is eager to use her new skills to support her children’s education and basic needs. Arifa says, “As a mother, I understand the importance of education and I want all my children to be educated.”

Fatima

Fatima, age 37, mother of three.

Fatima is a 37 year old mother of three children. Due to conflict and drought in her hometown, she and her family have become refugees in their own country. A few months ago, she joined the embroidery program at Aschiana. With her newly learned tailoring skills, she’s currently filling orders from family members and neighbors. The extra income helps her pay for food, clothing, and school expenses. Upon graduation, Fatima plans to open a small center in her home and hire other women – hence creating a multiplying effect!
