Her Excellency the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Renée Jones-Bos and Dr. Richard Huw Jones hosted an evening reception to benefit the Aschiana Foundation’s work in assisting street children in Afghanistan. Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General (Ret.) Richard Myers and his wife, Mary Jo Myers, were honored for their years of public service, leadership and humanitarian work around the world, most recently their support for the establishment of a medical clinic at the Aschiana Children’s Center in Kabul. Mrs. Laura Bush attended to honor the Myers. The Honorary Host Committee included The Honorable Madeleine K. Albright, His Excellency the Ambassador of France, Francois Delattre, His Excellency the Ambassador of Japan and Mrs. Yoriko Fujisaki, Mrs. Sultana Hakimi, Congressman Russ Carnahan, Senator Lindsey Graham, Congressman Mike Rogers, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and many other distinguished leaders.
