Dear Supporters,
We would like to acknowledge the tremendous effort and selflessness of our Board President, Sanya Younossi. Over the last decade, Sanya has been our fearless leader and done more for the organization than we could ever convey. Having decided to step down, Sanya will be passing the torch to one of our long-time Board Members, Katie Roberts.
“It has been my honor and privilege to serve as Aschiana’s Board President over the past 10 years,” said Sanya Younossi. “The opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of thousands of Afghan girls, boys, and women has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I will be forever grateful for the tremendous work and dedication of Aschiana’s supporters, staff, and Board of Directors.”
Sanya will remain on the Board of Directors. Sanya’s efforts will be remembered forever. Our Board of Directors is excited to welcome Katie as our new Board President.
About Katie Roberts:
Katie is the President of Include a small, women-owned, and led consulting business specializing in leading transformation and change management initiatives to solve challenges, drive results, connect people, and multiply impact for the federal government, Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, and not-for-profits.
Katie is a C-suite executive, board member, and trusted advisor with 20+ years’ experience and a proven track record of building and directing cross-functional teams at the highest levels of business and government. Over her career, she has served as a senior advisor to Fortune 500 C-suite executives, boards of directors, government and elected officials, and military leaders.
Her private sector leadership roles include Senior Advisor, SAIC; Vice President, Corporate Engagement, Booz Allen Hamilton; Chief People Officer, WPP Specialist Communications Division; Chief of Staff to Walmart’s Chief People Officer; Head of Global External Affairs, GE Power; Chief Operating Officer, Bluhammock Music and Bluhammock Clothing.
Throughout her career, Katie has also held a range of government leadership roles, including having served as a Senior Advisor in the Office of the Secretary of Defense; Strategic Communications Advisor to the Commander of the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command in Afghanistan; Press Secretary for the Department of Veterans Affairs; and earlier in her career she served as a Staff Assistant in The White House, Office of the Vice President.
